Nutrition: Hungry late at night? Grab a piece of fruit.

You know what’s it like. The kids are in bed and the dinner dishes are finally put away. You are in front of the TV or on your smartphone when it starts. The hunger pangs!

Out of nowhere you are craving ‘something’. You check out the cupboard and see all those cookies and cakes. You are about to reach for one, but stop suddenly with your arm halfway to the cookie. And you remember reading somewhere that most fresh fruit is lower in calories and better for you than many processed foods. Just in time you shut the cupboard door and grab a yummy strawberry and a slice of melon.

We all know that eating too much of any food is not good for you, but we have always found that when it comes to snacks, our bodies run and feel better when we are filling them with nutritious foods like fresh fruit. Packed with vitamins, minerals and soluble fibre fruit has always been our ‘go-to’ snack at any time of day. Just watch those natural sugars and your overall calorie intake.
