Like everything else in this world, there is a right way and a wrong way to using an eyebrow pencil. Do it correctly and your eyes really can stand out as the windows to your soul, but do it badly and they will look very odd to say the least. Check out our tips and tricks today to find out how professionals do it so very well.
Start with a clean slate.
Using a clean mascara brush to brush your brows before applying any colour. Don’t assume they are clean or you may just be adding to your problems later on.
Work out what type of brows you have.
For light coloured brows you might want to work in the direction of the brow hairs and start layering on the colour. Work slowly and keep checking as you go so it is not overdone. For medium coloured brows it is about emphasizing what already stands out and use small strokes to fill in what is missing. For heavy or dark brows choose a shade close to your natural colour (or one shade lighter) and fill in the areas which need it before lightly covering the remainder with a light covering of colour.
Do your eyebrows before any other eye makeup is applied.
Your finished eyebrows will determine where you go from there, and how much eye makeup might be needed. Keep in mind that applying makeup is a process of little-by-little, and make sure you stop along the way to check the overall progress so as to not overdo it.
If you use any powder, work VERY lightly.
The reason for this is simple. Any powder should complement what has already been achieved with the pencil and should never look overdone. If you go too heavy you might need to take it off and start from the beginning all over again.
While famous brands sound good, many cheaper products will do the same job.
While you might want to look like the Kardashians, you don’t necessary need to spend what they do to get the same look. Some well-known brands are great but a visit to your pharmacy/drugstore will reveal shelves full of cheaper brands under $10 that will still give you full control over how much colour is applied and which blend well. Many cheaper options are available with some coming as a bonus 3-in-1 crayon/brush/wax. Far cheaper than the big brands and just as good in many cases.
As always, if you have any queries about the right product to use for your brows or skin type, we strongly suggest you seek professional assistance so as to look the very best you can.
