Down through history, there have been some very firm ‘rules‘ around wine, but we think many of them are starting to change! Keep reading to see if you agree, and hopefully to complete our VERY short five-minute questionnaire.
Wine connoisseurs are a funny lot, and no offence is meant, if you are one. We just find that so many can be absolutely sticklers when it comes to obeying certain wine ‘rules.’ Some of those rules you might know, while others are almost unknown and hidden away in deep cellars for only the truly enlightened to know and appreciate.
We once got ‘told off’ for taking a bottle of fortified wine (Port) to a dinner party, thinking that it would be a welcome drink after dinner was served. A friend of the host rebuffed us afterwards suggesting strongly that next time we might ask what was being served before bringing a wine which might not pair correctly with the meal. In fact, the Port went perfectly well with the after dinner sweets and platter, so who cared? Well, he did apparently.
Anyway, as frequent wine drinkers, we have been pleased to see that the younger generation do not seem to care so much for the rules, and almost seem intent on changing or breaking them – just because they can. So we thought it might be time to get a more general sense on what our friends on the web think about these rules, and whether you also feel some are changing (for good or bad!).
So here goes. Five simple questions will appear beneath, and we really hope you can take just three to five minutes or less to let us know your thoughts on each question. Be brief, or not – it is up to you entirely. And no names will ever be mentioned against any of the answers.
